Well the latest Newsletter from Whelan's (June 14th), still has no mention of a support act, so who's it gonna be Pete?

any mention of tickets yet. don't want to miss out. the "U2 element" may swell the numbers compared to last time.

' Which is international act are The Radiators playing with this Friday?'
Uh.....Foster and Allen?
Seriously , though good luck to the Rads on Friday. I was at the U2 show in Brussels the week before last and it really is the dogs bollox , loads of crash , bang , wallop and whatever your having yourself.
Ticketmaster tell me tickets for the Whelans show will be 'available on the door'. However , what with the proximity to Fridays show and all the potential visitors in town I wanted to be more certain of getting in. I rang the box office -
WaV Ticketbox, Camden Row. Tel - 1890 200 078. Open: Tues - Sat. 12pm - 8pm.
and they took my credit card order, with some poxy processing fee , of course. This way I should get in and get a ticket with the Rads printed on it , and not the generic 'raffle ticket' that gets issued on the door.
I got the E.P. in Freebird . Rockin' stuff. The new songs are great examples of the fuller sound that Rad's '05 are making. Similarly the new versions of the old songs totally re-invigorate them , leaving the originals in the heritage slot that the 1970's recordings are best regarded in.
Finally , I ran into Steve at the excellent Rodney Crowell gig at Vicar St. this evening ( 'I'm singing this song cos I f**ken feel like it ' said Rod to a persistent heckler at one point) , got the latest issue of his Lonesome Highway mag. of him, told him I was looking forward to Thursday show annd he hopes I enjoy it.

The Rad did a tight , well rehearsed show tonight. Everyone seemed in good form , Steve throwing badges to the crowd, Phil looking a bit livelier than in April , Cait doing some serious bass moves , Pete looking serious and Johnny keeping everything going with a rocksteady beat. As the setlist shows they did few songs not done in April. The new ones just get better and better , especially She Says I'm A Loser - I was singing along after only hearing it twice. Clotheswise it was mostly black. Phil had a Robert Johnson T-shirt , Johnny a T-Rex one. Cait kicked of her shoes and did most of the show barefoot. Doubtlessly they're all still having a good time down there. I have a 6AM start tomorrow so I'm back home letting you know the news. If they are as tight as this in Croke Park tomorrow they should hopefully win over a lot of knew fans - here's hopeing!

anyone know who the support act was. he never introduced himself while i was there - last 6-7 songs.

Excellent gig, also sneaked in for the "extended sound check" which was really cool.
They say you should never meet your heroes, but I met Pete and Cait last night and they're wrong!
Did not make it West last night and the sad thing is I will now be going past Croke Park on the train around the same time that the Rads are getting ready to upstage U2 (guest list, full guys?)
Hi Harryhooper2, good to put a face on another poster!

Best gig yet, no contest! Faster, rockier and looked more fun for the band.
All the best for today - blow them away!
