Brace of albums from Irish punk pioneers.
Hatching far from the punk scenes heart, Dublin’s The Radiators(From Space), headed by future Pogues guitarist and songwriter Philip Chevron, were able to slash their own path through the thorny thickets of late- ‘70s fashion. While their 1977 debut TV Tube Heart swaggers with jaunty spite and what-have-you-got? rebellion (Television Screen, Press Gang), 1979’s Ghostown shows them ripening into an ambitiously poetic entity. Produced by Tony Visconti, it’s a lush evocation of Dublin’s streets, with an intoxicating mix of sexual politics, history and imagination fuelling Let’s Talk About The Weather and the glorious Dead The Beast, Dead The Poison.
